Everlasting gobstoppers...
In an effort to do the research for a poem idea I had been tinkering with I watched both Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory and Charlie & the Chocolate Factory, I am convinced that Gene Wilder is the better Wonka, but Tim Burton certainly makes the candy look amazing.
Really though, I noticed that Grandpa Joe's dancing in Burton's film is an eerie precursor to Depp's fudderwackin' in Burton's Alice in Wonderland remake - which might be the proof that Burton is never going to regain the level of art and wonder he achieved with Big Fish and I should just give up on him already. Really, what was his last great film? I don't know if I can think of any other candidates.
