Drinking beer with Matt and Matt

Working on a new song about nostalgia and rock and roll. It will come easy, as the subject matter is fun and easy to think about. Its whiskey wednesday tonight and Im nowhere near the party. I kinda wish I was, but there lies a horrible weekend of work and little sleep ahead of me in a few days. I think Ill lay low and work on this song.

As I grew from a child to an adolescent, Christmas and the act of receiving and giving things to people lost a lot of its magic. I remember one year I cried bitterly because I wasnt excited for the holidays and it made me feel bummed out and guilty. It was awful. The feeling set in, and I dont really get too excited about Christmas or my other childhood holiday favorite: The 4th of July. Now dont get me wrong. I love fireworks. They are fun to watch and set off. But they are more fun for my brother. (I just like watching him do his thing.) Its pretty cool. A bit jaded about celebrating independence in the midst of stupid wars and a world increasingly wrecked by consumerism and capitalism, I tend to back away from the big hoo-rah that is the 4th of July. Lack of money in my pocket for the last few years has made me wary of spending hard earned cash on things that expode or burn up. For this reason, how and why I drink and smoke so much is perplexing.

My new favorite holiday is and has been Halloween for quite a while. I dig costumes and horror movies and the general creepiness of Nebraska in the fall. The weather is a big part of my love for Halloween, as I adore hoodies. I just call it Hoodie Season and people get the drift. Enjoy your 4th, peeps. Im sure Ill have a good time with friends and family. They are the redeeming aspects of any holiday, right? Ill see you in the fall.
