Rating system changes?

Jan 05, 2008 14:22

I just noticed that all of my fics have been suddenly rated as "suitable for all ages", including fics that were set up as NC-17/R. Has the rating system been revamped? From what I've noticed now, the ratings are either "All Ages" or "Adult".

Um. I have to admit, I've written a lot of stuff that I wouldn't rate as an NC-17, but which I'd be uncomfortable with youngsters or the un-forewarned just jumping into -- especially since I have written a lot of innocuous stuff. I wouldn't want everyone to think that it's all at an equivalent level.

Would it be OK to go back and put my *own* ratings comments in the summaries?

Yeah, that's not a bad way to go -- and, FWIW as an author-and-reader-not-a-mod, I like it when authors give some idea of where a story is "going" in terms of content. I don't know that I write the more intense stuff in a way that it can be cut and still have the rest of it make sense (i.e. like the PWP chapter that goes in between a couple "real" chapters), so a warning in the summary is how I think I'll deal with it, next time I get logged on and have the editing time.

LOL! Talk about your "wake up call" moment. :D Actually, I'm pretty much gonna do that with the next chapter of a fic IP; warnings will abound, I guess . . .
