Driving home from Westerfolds Park this evening, I was pulled up at the lights when a young woman about my age, driving a black convertable waved at me and asked, "what kind of dogs are they?"
She was referring to
maddytron and
puppybot who were panting in the back seat after an hour-long jaunt in the aforementioned park.
"Corgi cross Jack Russell and West Highland White Terrier," I replied.
"They're gorgeous!" she told me, beaming.
We parted ways when the lights changed. I will never see her again and I will probably forget about this by next week ... but it was a really awesome thing to say to someone and I wish I'd thought to thank her.
So next time you're about to strike up a conversation with a total stranger and you're doing the whole "will I / won't I" thing, hopefully you'll throw caution and social apathy to the wind and make somebody's day.
