For PSCS2
1 Start with your base. Im using this one of Jim, from The Office x)
2 Duplicate your base 2 times. Greyscale them both. Set the first duplicated layer to Screen, at 50%. Set the second duplicated layer to Hard Light, at 100%
3 Duplicate your base layer, and set it over all the other layers. Set the blend mode to Color, at 100%.
4 Merge all layers, and sharpen, if needed.
5 Take that gradient (by colortone) and set it to Hard Light, at 100%
6 Duplicate your base layer, and bring it over the gradient layer. Set it to Screen at 50%
7 Take that tan color and set it to Darken, at 100%
8Take that blue color and set it to Lighten, at 100%
9 Make a new layer. Stamp visible (ctrl + alt + shift + E) Set that layer to Hard Light, at 75%
It should look a little like thissss x)

10 Add text.
11 Duplicate your text layer once. Bring one down all the way under the gradient layer of your icon. Keep it at Normal, at 100%. Set the other text layer to Soft Light, at 100%.
12 Now, you can add anything else you want, like borders and stuff :0 I added a border, the same way I did my text.
