I'm doing my Saturday post extra early because stuff always seems to happen and I get delayed. I think the kids are coming over for karaokefest too. No drinky today, my liver can't keep up.
I'm doing Week Four and Week five of Simple Pleasures under a cut because I missed out.
Simple Pleasures Week #004
1.) Amazing friends who take the little things into consideration. (This includes all of you who can read this. Reading your LJs is something I look forward to on a daily basis.) They may seem small to you, but it makes an impact on me.
2.) My sense of touch (things that are science-y and "nerdy" appeal to me). So I am thankful the nerves in my body allow me to feel the warmth of my husband as I sleep next to him, the soft embrace of my son, kisses, a cooling breeze, and so forth. I'm glad I am able to experience this.
3.) Parents. This is something I think a lot of people take for granted. Having struggled with this issue my entire life, and I was often envious of my friends for. Only now in my older age do I realize that mine did the best they were able to do at the time. I am thankful to have such wonderful parents-in-law as well.
Simple Pleasures Week #005
1.) Apple Black Tea. I enjoy this drink almost as much as Coke. It tastes like apple juice and tea. I always miss it whenever I can't find it at the cultural center.
2.) Rechargeable batteries. Pedro and I use a lot of electronics that require the use of AA batteries. We probably would have spent a lot more money on getting batteries if we didn't have chargers and rechargeable batteries.
3.) BBC documentaries. I've watched a lot of documentaries, I didn't realize just how many I'd seen until I started watching on Netflix again. Most recently ones about dinosaurs and before that about mammals.
I've been hearing some negative, offhand comments recently about random things in my life. People just seem to have nothing nice to say anymore and that includes me. I really hate that this negativity is starting to bring me down as well.
Breathe...
Let your life be in the sunshine
Not the darkness of your sorrow
~ Aretha Franklin
Feel the rain on your skin
No one else can feel it for you
Only you can let it in
No one else, no one else
Can speak the words on your lips
drench yourself in words unspoken
live your life with arms wide open
Today is where your book begins
the rest still unwritten
~ Natasha Bedingfeld
God gave you shoes to fit you
So put 'em on and wear 'em
Be yourself man, be proud of who you are
Even if it sounds corny
Don't ever let anyone tell you you ain't beautiful
~ Eminem
