This is really haunting. I love your usual touches of humor - Bonekickers making the Doctor plausible; the soprano eating her way through the orchestra - they add lightness to what is an achingly sad story. "I can't live with hope." Ouch!

I love this! So many River fics mess up the wibbly-wobbly stuff, but you seem to have gotten it all straight (relatively speaking) and written a beautifully poignant story.

I really like this one. Not least of which is because I'm not sure why we're supposed to believe that all the Time Lords are dead and The Doctor has accounted for every single one of them when it's obvious he didn't go look.
