I shouldn't have been saving all this up for so long...

I started this Scarf, my third, for the 2008 who_knits Knitalong, finished it in March 2009, and never got around to posting it here. One reason was that I wanted to take it on a trip to the Grand Canyon in May. (And then I was just busy, I guess!)

I used "I Love This Cotton" yarn, and I've found it softer than most other economy cotton yarns I've seen. I really love the feel, and the way it drapes, especially with the ribbing. In my warmish climate, it's more practical than a wool scarf. So it's not entirely authentic, but heavily Who-inspired, and it doesn't seem to come across as that eccentric (except for the length) so I can wear it anywhere. Okay, I would wear (and have worn) a Who scarf anywhere, anyway.

In other Scarf adventures, I wear my second (traditional, wool) Scarf when it's actually cold here, which lately it has been. Very! Like everywhere else in the Northern hemisphere, it seems. I went down to take pictures of my parents' livestock pond, which almost never freezes, and while I couldn't actually walk out on the ice, I could toss out something to prove I was there.

Early last year I also made a TARDIS cell phone cozy for my new phone. I used sport weight yarn and size 1 needles and made the pattern up as I went along. The windows are outlined with embroidery thread. I do wish now that I'd written the pattern down. It's been over a year now and I've forgotten exactly what I did.

I've had the cell phone cozy recognized by strangers, but never the scarf (any version). I guess the TARDIS is just a lot more iconic and well known.

And finally, I had the biggest thrill because I finally found a home for my first Doctor Who scarf (the big one in the picture), knitted three years ago. It was too wide and heavy for me, and I didn't know any Classic Who fans who lived where one might need to wear a scarf in winter. But my new sister-in-law has a half-brother who is so obsessed, he's building his own life-sized TARDIS. My kind of fellow! I gave my s-i-l the Scarf to give him as a Christmas gift, and he was so impressed, he showed emotion. (Apparently he usually doesn't.) Hee.
