He checked on the Ponds, making sure they were settled into their new bedroom. Both were sound asleep.

He didn't have time to dawdle. He had to be finished here by the time the Ponds woke.

After stepping outside the first thing he noticed was that the house was smaller and more homely than he'd expected.

He knocked on the door, then hammered on it insistently. He wasn't going anywhere until he got the answer he needed.

When the door opened an exasperated woman glared at him. "What the hell do you want? I'm in the middle of very important work."

"So am I," he said, flashing his psychic paper.

Her attitude changed immediately. "If I'd known someone from the Institute was coming I would have prepared. You're early, it's not ready yet."

"I want to see anyway."

She took him through into the house and to the laboratory. The main feature was a large coffin-like object. "The first one is still baking."

"Baking?"

She smiled. "I'm experimenting with heat to see if it helps to hold the shape."

"Show me."

"But..."

"Show me," the look in his eyes, eyes that seemed so strangely ancient, was a look that she couldn't refuse.
She nodded and touched the controls on the coffin.

It opened, revealing a duplicate of the woman. Its skin was much paler and the details weren't quite right.

He looked at the copy and nodded. This was it. This was what he had been looking for. This was the answer. He wished so very much it wasn't.

She saw a darkening of the visitor's expression, and felt a chill run up her spine. His eyes shifted from the copy back to her. She felt afraid.

"Tell me everything you know about the Flesh," the Doctor said firmly. "Everything."
