Summary: She will give him whatever she can, and be whatever he needs.
Notes: I had a lot of better ideas for this fic, and then THIS is what came out and then it simply refused to be expanded on. next time, I hope I'll do better. :p
Her Thief was a sad man, for all that he smiled and made jokes. He was a lonely man, for all that he was surrounded by his companions--Time Lord or Human, depending on the When that she was looking at. His hearts yearned for so many things.
To have a home to return to when he wearied of travel.
To have someone who stayed.
To not have seen so much.
To not be the last.
She could not give her Thief all that he needed. She could not give him the home he desired, but she could give him enough spaces that he could pretend. She could not take away his experiences and give his mind the freedom of forgetting all the terrors he had endured. She could not save the other Time Lords from the Time War.
But she could be the one who stayed.
She would be his rock, his shelter and the one companion who would stay with him no matter what. She would take him where he was needed, and sometimes that would be for his own good and sometimes for the good of others. She would find him new companions when his loneliness grew too great. She would be the place he could call his home.
She would be there until there were no timestreams left that remembered a Time Lord called The Doctor and she would take care of him.
