Story: A world away from you.

Author's Summary: When Nine finds himself stuck with his future self he’s surprised to see just how kind he can, and will, become.
Characters/Pairings: Nine/Rose (kinda), Twelve/Lydia.

“Rose… get back.”
“Lydia??? Oh… for heaven’s… LYDIA…. Sorry.”
The woman who had all but knocked the Doctor over had paused, looked him over then carried on.
“LYDIA?”
“DOCTOR???”
The scream had come from close by and the woman beamed before heading off, leaving Rose staring at her Doctor with ill-disguised amusement.
“You become a girl?”
“Yes, I do…. Apparently.”
Nine had paused then spoken angrily.
“I shouldn’t have crossed my own timeline… I should know that by then.”
He had still gone after whoever had screamed, stunned to find the woman crouched over her companion, cradling her gently, stroking the girl’s hair as she sobbed.
“I’m sorry Lydia, I know this must be hard for you…”
“You promised you wouldn’t let him find me.”
“I’m sorry.”
The female Doctor had stood, pulling Lydia up with her, her arms wrapped around the girl before she spoke again.
“I know, I know… don’t cross your own timeline but YOU came here… you were the one who left that note…”
“… What?”
“Just… go. Now. Quickly. Before…”
“Before what?”
“I can’t say…”
Twelve had glanced at herself again before sighing.
“This is where it all began…”
