Terrible day. Started off bad and just got worse. This morning, somebody caught the arch duke's slave. The poor little creep had been hiding around the office for a months, and I'd been feedin' him and tryin' to get him thinkin' right. He was like some feral animal, that one; he'd been with the arch duke so long, he'd gone a bit mad. I felt sorry for him. Even if he did bite me on the ankle that one time, the poor bastard didn't know no better, it's how he was raised. I think I was making some progress with him, but now they caught him and they'll probably just give him back to the bloody arch duke again. It's like the time they took my bloody rat, Herbert. They never let me keep anything around here, the bastards.
I was still feeling sad about the slave getting caught when I heard word around the office that our Miss Cordelia was up and about! I got all excited, but then I went by her room and there she was, still in her coma. Didn't make a bit of sense. And then somebody declared a code 7 and next thing I know I'm off to limbo, that bloody nothing where the senior partners stash me whenever they evacuate the building. It's a damned uncomfortable nothing, a bit like being buried alive except no matter how loud you yell you can't even hear your own voice. Don't fancy it a bit. After a while I found meself back in the building, only to get word that while I was away Mr. Macdonald had returned and he and the bossman had left a bloody mess way down in the Failsafe room. That was the one room where I could always be sure things were nice and clean, and I've often taken me lunches there... so OF COURSE the bossman had to go and kill somebody down there.
Actually, I don't know that it was the bossman who done in Mr. Macdonald. Rumor is that Mr. Macdonald got over-ambitious, see, and the senior partners took him out for his trouble. I did try to warn the poor sod, when he started here. I could see the fire in his eye, he had big plans. I tried to tell him to watch his arse, but no, he'd just tell me to go away. I was just the bloody janitor, after all. What did I know about anything? Well, I knew a damn sight more about it than he ever guessed. He's lucky if they did kill him, believe me. Could have been a lot worse.
Hang on...
WHAT? Dennis just floated through in a terrible state. Says our Miss Cordelia has passed on. I told him he had to have misunderstood. It's been a mad day, there are all sorts of rumors flying around. It isn't true. Surely, it's not.
I'm off to her room. I'll sort THIS out...
