From sunny Australialand

Hullo all of you worthies.

I am in Australialand. Port MacQuarie is tropicalish, but I can't get over how very Australian Australians are. Its mad. The conference was surprisingly relevant, and full of all my old workmates from Archives New Zealand, which was cool. They let me swim in their hotel pool. I have also swum IN THE SEA and I wish that this was something I could do in Wellington but alas, dying of hypothermia is outcome no. 1.

Last night I wildly cavorted with archivists until we had to leave the conference centre and go to a real bar which turned out to be full of amateur strippers and their potatoheaded boyfriends.

Everything is so new here. And made of tubular steel.

The palm trees are cool though. Having my own hotel room for the first time ever that I can remember is also quite special. I shall have to do it again somewhere else, then everywhere.

For those who care, I shall be home on Monday afternoon about 4pm, after flying in tiny baby plane, then a Mumma Bear sized one. Looking forward to catching up with folks this short week and Have a Good Labour Day as well please.
