glorious weekend.

well sally finally flew up from texas to visit this past weekend and found providence and me more than worth her while in the process. meg and i picked her up at the airport on the shittiest of cold, sleeting, rainy days and decided after showing her our suite that we all needed crepes for lunch.

sidenote: sally jackson wears a fake engagement ring when travelling so that she doesn't get hit on by scary old men, but has awkward 6-hour-long, multi-flight conversations with them regardless.

after establishing that fact, sally and i shopped on thayer and cried about the misery of the weather. when we got back, i started watching chocolat while sally napped. once everyone had gotten back in, we decided to settle for joe's and wine and chocolat until something better surfaced. it did. we decided a trip to viva was in order....in the snow....in sally and i's respective flip flops and shiny gold shoes with mis-matched socks. viva was hysterical. of course sally got two lame guys to start buying her drinks right away. meanwhile, the rest of us started the dance party. around about 1 or 2 jen called us and said people were over at our suite so we left and said goodbye to each of our random, alter-ego viva friends...unfortunately, the two original lame guys came outside after us. i thought it would be funny to inflict them on sally further and joked that they should come to the suite....bad idea. luckily for sally, we passed shristian on our way home and she pretended he was her boyfriend for the rest of the night. once home, the awkward viva guys were awkward and talked about ronde our scarecrow and were annoying meg, but finally left when i started making blatant "you're not welcome" comments to save her. after that, most of us smoked a little, danced a little, and went to bed.

the next morning, sally and i dragged ourselves out of bed and onto the snowy streets of providence again to get boots and coffee. afterward, we caught the 12:15 train to boston (which was 45 minutes late and slowed even more by a medical emergency on the trainride itself). when we finally got there, the first order of business was definitely anthropologie where sally bought jeans, pants, a sweater etc. and i bought underwear and a nightgown that i've not only been sleeping in, but that i also wore out over jeans on saturday night. we didn't have tons of time before the 4:45, but were exhausted and ready to come home just as the sun started setting. when we got back to p-town, we stopped by H&M in the mall and finally got a cab home. at that point, it was time to get dinner and start getting ready to have people over. after all, it was rudy's dying party, and it was really fun. jesse even came and brought his housemates who i'd met when they visited him in nashville 2 summers ago. i don't remember tons, but i do know we all left to go to our friend kate's house around 1 or 2 on benevolent st. there were so many people dancing in that old house that the floors were bouncing. it got scary and sally's feet were bleeding, so we all went home eventually. on the walk home i slipped in my cowboy boots on a sheet of ice and banged my head so hard on the concrete that i was in complete shock--nevermind that my chin was bleeding and that i now have a huge scratch across my face. i was ok though. meg went into maternal role and sally into make whitney laugh mode so we made it back and tended the wounds. i think they might heal.

the next day, sally, jen, lizzie and i got bagel gourmet, sally packed up and i borrowed meg's car to make a stop at miko's for something for sally to remember providence by. at that point, sally had done it all and we headed to the airport. can people please visit me every weekend from now on??
