"7. THE FREE STUFF: If you happen to get anything for free and you did not have a problem with your dining experience, most of the time it is because the server thinks you will realize that they are giving it to you for free. There should be extra tip thanking the server for the free item."
The MANAGER is the one that has a RIGHT to give away an item for free. If you take it upon yourself as a server to do this, you could get reprimanded or fired. So thanking the server is STUPID, because it’s NOT the SERVER, it’s the MANAGER I should ONLY THANK the MANAGER unless the server is truly paying out of their own pocket, because MY SERVER DIDN’T give me anything free, the MANAGER DID. You as a server have NO RIGHTS not to charge someone for items. Since the “MANAGER” is the one that gives an item for free, because of bad service or a wrong entrée, all I have to thank is the manager, NOT the server UNLESS: The ONLY other reason I would thank the server in the tip and verbally is if she or he was caring enough to ask the manager to give something for free because of a mistake whether they actual made the mistake or not, in other words, so the customer doesn’t have to call the manager, that the SERVER takes action to get the customer satisfied. Then I can see giving a server more money, because they actually GAVE A SHIT about my experience. If you as a server don’t take any action to tell a manager about a huge problem such as a wrong entrée, then you would have an uncaring attitude. If the customer has to get the manager by the time we would want to get the check(meaning the server NEVER TRIED to get the manager), then you WON’T get a tip period for being so UNCARING. Also, if the cook cooked the wrong entrée, it’s up to the server to reread the order they wrote down and COMPARE what they wrote down to the plate of food BEFORE EVER BRINGING THE FOOD TO THE CUSTOMER. If there is a food runner that takes the food to the customer, the food runner should reread the ticket. If so happens that the server printed the ticket wrong, then if a food runner brings the food out wrong, it’s either the SERVER’S fault for printing the ticket wrong or the COOK’S fault for getting the order wrong.
If the server gives an item for free, then either the server is paying for it out of pocket them self or they are stealing from the restaurant. Servers have NO RIGHTS to give items for free. Usually when items are given for free by the servers, it’s usually forgotten items. When items are forgotten off the bill or an undercharge happens as well as the service was good, YES, I do give more tip.
“8. THE LATE ONES: If you come into the restaurant 10 mins before closing or any time near closing hurry up and order your food and get out. Closed means closed, not social hour."
I AGREE with this one. People that come in close to closing time shouldn’t even be seated and it is rather rude to have the server have to work well over their shift, because some people want to dine late. I do think that’s very INCONSIDERATE of people to come right before closing time. I completely agree when a restaurant is CLOSED, they are CLOSED!
“9. THE TABLE HOGGERS: If you want to sit for hours, go there or else you better leave a good tip for us and camping fee included."
Again, there is NO “CAMPING FEE”, because we customers AREN’T *RENTING* the space. SO NO, NO CAMPING FEE is necessary or should be expected, PERIOD! However, I think it’s rude of the customer to sit for hours if they aren’t eating or drinking, because another customer could have been seated at that table. So I ONLY think it’s inconsiderate to other customers, NOT inconsiderate to the wait staff at all. WHY THE HELL SHOULD ANY CUSTOMER CARE about if you turn and burn the table faster or not to make more tips? Customers are out to have a nice time. They are NOT there to worry about if YOU aren’t making more tips from them. Like they give a rat’s ass about HOW MUCH money you make, I mean really. I know I certainly don’t think about if I spend extra time drinking my drink that I owe the server money if they aren’t actually SERVING me anymore, I mean REALLY. YOU ARE SELFISH, SELFISH, SELFISH, ONLY THINKING OF YOUR INCOME, BUT NOT ABOUT PEOPLE’S DINING EXPERIENCES!
