So you know how I've been going on and on and on in anticipation for an answer from the universities, namely the English ones? Well, I received my first response in the mail this afternoon, from Kent at Canterbury (it's one of my two first choices), and I have been offered admissions into both the MS in Social & Applied Psychology and the MS in Research Methods in Psychology programs (I applied to both because I was uncertain). The term dates are Sept 24, 07 to Sept 17, 08. So now I have to decide on which program would be better suited for me, but at the moment I think I'm leaning towards the Social Psych program, though for both programs you have a majority overlap of courses since I'd be doing a Social Psychology concentration anyway. Actually, I don't know how it works in the UK and perhaps they prefer one of these programs over the other when you have the intentions of pursuing a PhD after said MS... So now I have to do all my research and paperwork and all that, but this is fantastic!
I am still waiting for a response from Surrey, as they are my other first choice, and if I do get in I will have a ridiculously hard time deciding between the universities, as they both have their advantages and disadvantages and by my initial review seem about par overall... But I guess only time will tell about what will happen with that, as I should hopefully get a reply in the next few days.
So far, Maria helped me out by pointing me to some new communities on LJ and I have already posted some question on the Kent at Canterbury one about whether my programs are considered laboratory or non-laboratory based for tuition paying purposes (lab is about $6000 more expensive, of course), about which of the two programs would be more appropriate for someone who intends on getting a Ph.D in Social Psych afterwards (US or UK, who knows?), and for other general stuffage and tips. Here's hoping someone can tell me some good and helpful info, because while I know I can ask the university about that directly, I don't want to look stupid if I don't ABSOLUTELY have to as of yet, LOL.
So that's it for now. I think I have burned out all my excitement for one day, and am actually hungry, LOL. Go figure? But I had to share:-)
