it's funny how different we end up as we grow into this adulthood thing. honestly, i can not imagine that anyone's true love for their life would be technical support. i enjoyed it enough. i liked the billing more than anything. the technical stuff, no way. i faked my way through that. it went something like this: me- "hm, sounds like it might be a truely technical issue with your unit itsself. i'm very sorry but i'm going to have to refer you to garmin." customer- "uuum, it's a samsung..." me- "well then you seem to be one step ahead of me. here is samsung's number!" then i would just try to smooth it all over with extra sugary sweetness and hope the guy forgot my incompetence before he got off the call and took the survey. i've heard people say that there is a really good call center in gray, tn. and what about these work from home customer service things?
me, i've found over the years that my true passion has always been food. not a stretch for a fat kid, i know. but i love finding the beauty and art of food. not just in plating and the aesthetics of the eye, but in the flavors. spices are like paint, when you mix them correctly you get something new, beautiful, useful. mix the wrong spices, like the wrong colors, and you just get brown. but sometimes you don't know. like how when you paint human skin has so many blues...it is the unexpected, the unexplainable that makes a dish sing. wow, this is a very long comment. forgive me, it is closer to 2 that 1 and my mind gets drifty. :)
Well, for me, Technical support is about helping people and I enjoy being able to help people with technical problems. I think it's the easiest and most satisfying way to help someone, especially if they learn something new. Since I'm into techy nerdy stuff anyway, it's a good fit for me.
As for the specific kind you mentioned, over the phone, that's ok, but I meant more as an IT guy like I was at KCG, I didn't do phone calls all day, it was more "fix my email, route this network interface for me, build an application that we need." and so on. That's the kind of technical support I love doing, although I don't mind doing over the phone technical support.
I appreciate the long comment!
And I'm a big fan of food too, but more so the eating part. I enjoy cooking a few things, but I hardly experiment. I think you do some really cool stuff, and you should totally post more pics of the great food like you did a while back on FB.
i know. my camera batteries are dying. they won't hardly hold charge anymore. and who can wait to eat their food til the camera batteries are charged? haha.
this weekend i am making chocolate cupcakes with brownie pieces and choclate frosting. should be, well, (extremely) chocolatey! i've been following this bakery in indiana (we went there back in february) on facebook and trying my hand at my own versions of some of the cupcakes they post. last week i made blueberry filled lemon pound cakes with lemon cream cheese icing. in the "real" food realm, my latest creation is buffalo chicken wraps. sliced grilled chicken coated in homemade buffalo sauce, in a tortilla with cheese (cheddar or swiss!), lettuce, and ranch, then i grill the wraps themselves to char the tortilla. sooo yummy. :)
as for computers, they hate me. hate hate hate me. lol. but some people just naturally wrap their head around them. i am not one of those people. haha.
