Sauntering home in the first memorable rain. Right hand with umbrella, socks hinting a weight of water, over-sized headphones, only the left-side with sound. Wilco's "I'm Always in Love" came on. Moved from the side of the rails to the center. Made sure to walk only on the wooden frame, right foot on one plank, left foot on the other, and so on: perpendicular crossing. Heard the train coming from behind me, shouting its whine. Saw the lights shining in front of me. And I just kept walking. One foot after the other.
