I said yes to a double.
We all know what happens when I say yes to a double. [and it's not like I get paid the over time rates either cause I'm a casual].
Lets hope I make it through the week unscathed as I calculated I will have worked 64 hours by Sunday.
Annual leave starts next week and I plan on not doing any work at all for those 2 weeks.
Today's woman had every complication under the sun. I'm going to go through it methodically but with quick headings so I can head off to sleep for tomorrow's (no doubt) fun shift.
< b> The woman
every complication under the sun
and some of them seemed like bullshit complications.
There was one point where mum turned to me, so your meant to keep an eye on the CTG, document all of that on the paper forms, do the online charts, hourly stickers and chase the incharge to do hourly trace review. (and lets not forget ematernity and if I need to talk to the doctors, that's all extra time)-- and do my job on top of that (you know, take care of the woman: like make up the bath for her, change her pads, make her a heat pack).
Yes lady. Yes I do.
The Dad
Asked great questions
Got a bit much during the epidural
both him and mum were weirded out by the anesthatist they thought she was a student.
So we decided on no epidural
Then we decided that we had to have one
Then she actually didn't have thrombocytopenia
The medical student
Popped into the room unexpectedly and stayed the day.
Brought me lunch from the staff retention BBQ which ended up being my morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, and dinner.
He was the accoucher and then felt weirded out about being called the accoucher incase something bad happened later down the track and he got in trouble for it.
Welcome to the clinical world kiddo.
Febrile in labour
Sepsis pathway doesn't have a limit for what defines as febrile to commence sepsis pathway.
Handed over to the oldest midwife i know at SSH.
Didn't do any baby stuff.
Mum's sepsis pathway hadn't been commenced properly.
