Starting Autumn

First of all, happy birthday, Rae! *Hugs*

For the first time in 18-something years I've seen autumn start without having to either start another academic year or plan my wedding. I love it.

I love this time of year. Last autumn somehow disappeared through my fingers as I was flitting around doing this, that and the other to get ready for the wedding... which was great, and I enjoyed it, but it's nicer to look at it in hindsight! The start of many good memories.

This weekend I'm going to jump into the season by baking an apple pie, and John is going to process some of the apples from our apple tree into apple cider. I'm really looking forward to it.

I'm working in my current (same as before) position until the end of October, and it's been quite hectic lately, so I've decided not to talk about it. Hope I'll be able to line some work up afterwards, though.

Tonight I saw the final episode of Spice and Wolf season 2. This series has kept me absolutely captivated for months, as has the original. I wasn't happy with all of the plot developments in the second series, but I think it managed to wrap its final episode up very respectably, keeping the feel of the original series and making me look forward to a series 3, if there is one. (I have heard a rumour that there is to be one but I have not seen this confirmed anywhere official) It wasn't quite as epic as the final episode of series 1, but I think that can be forgiven. I can die happily now.

My parents visited in early September for a week, spending two days in Norwich and four in London. We had a very nice time sightseeing and trying all manner of Indian food, although the time just shot right by! I will have pictures up online soon, as soon as I get the time...

I had many fears about their visit but in the end none of them took place. We all got along and had a nice time, and despite my worst fears that it would be held against me that I wasn't living in my own house yet, that never happened, either on John's parents' side or in the case of my own parents.

I also got a beautiful gold-faced watch from my mother as a birthday present, which is charged by natural or artificial light, so you should never need to replace its battery like a traditional one... it's absolutely lovely and I wear it every day...
