(haven't done this in a while!)
Orange October
i enjoy october
the sun, with its deep yellow plasmas
ignites whatever's left of the trees
and in the morning, the fiery battle
between the seasons stings my ears.
i feel childish, breathing just to watch the puffs,
but being childish is being free,
free falling in bursts of pumpkin orange.
the tree isn't that tall, but right now,
it's tall enough.
Oh! to sit against ancient bark,
how wonderful a morning!
enveloped in apple pie atmospheres,
laughing as another leaf lands on your head.
a spiny wind springs up,
dancing with the leaves,
whirling and twirling them in their gentle earthward dance.
so many! kaleidoscope colors bend and twist
and dance together, a maelstrom of
tree feathers.
(and in the windy whirlpool of orange,
I'l take your hand and still taste the
cider on your lips.)
