Walt Disney's "Bambi" was released 74 years ago today, but I missed a more personal related anniversary earlier in 2016. This past April marked 50 years since I first saw "Bambi" in the theater. (Actually the only time I've seen it on the big screen.)
I was 11-1/2 at the time of that most memorable moviegoing experience of my life. Needless to say, I was never the same after seeing "Bambi." I still remember almost every thought and feeling I had during every minute I sat in that theater seat.
Only sad thing is that it would be another 28 years before I could share those feelings with others. Before I found furry, I never dared say a word about Bambi to anyone. I kept it all locked up inside me that whole time. Perhaps that helps explain why I haven't been able to shut up about Bambi ever since. ;)
I think if I'm remembered for anything in furrydom, it'll be for my love and devotion to Bambi: still strong as ever after a half-century! I just hope I can see "Bambi" again in the theater before I check out for good. That would be a dream of a lifetime come true.
