Title: Her Place Is Fandom: Avatar Rating: K+ Word Count: 729 Summary: Katara stayed because she was needed. She left because she was asked. Other: 31_days 09/05/06, . Postwar fic.
Beautiful ;o;, you can see the loyalty of Katara to Zuko, although both don't have a “more intimate relation” than a deep friendship… I want to read the second part. ^_^
Friendship is something that just sort of ... clicks, with my writing. UST is a little harder, and out and out romance is nigh impossible for me to do and feel anything but horror over.
One in the same, yep. There's not enough room in the world for two of me.
I'm lucky with Whispers in that it wants to be filled with UST, if not with lovey-dovey schmoopy blargh (not that there isn't a place for that - rather that it just isn't in this story).
Letting the story do what it wants to do with itself with minimal interference (but a clear path for it to follow) makes writing the thing so much more pleasant.
There's lots of tension without much affection through a good chunk of the story, and what I've gotten through so far I've enjoyed writing immensly. It's new and shiny and heavy on clash and conflict, which is something I haven't done much of before.
I saw that! I liked it in large part because of what you said: it felt like the characters were leading, which is, well, ♥. Especially for a character-based writer like myself to be able to read. (Also, I agree with the synonym thing. Times are when there's just one word and it isn't enough.)
