The long wait...
And so...after 2 months of vacation from LJ, I write my first entry. I've been getting complaints that I've not been updating this and I guess it was time I did.
Honestly I became a little disillusioned by the whole LJ thing. When I first started my page, it was so I could type out my thoughts, and update a few close friends on things going on in my life.
After I discovered that I could expand my social circle and meet and make more new friends from this, I started getting more excited. Reading other friends' entries and seeing the abundance in their replies just made me feel I wasn't alone. Seeing them outside at clubs, house parties and all, made me feel really welcomed- for the first time, seemed this circle we belong to was more than just about a fuck.
Then about 2 months ago, it dawned on me that I don't exactly fit. Yes I have a nice pool of friends (mostly made up of those I already knew prior to LJ) but never really felt welcome with new connections. I guess it was partially my fault for expecting more from a site like this. In the end, my page serves its basic purpose- to inform friends of my life and to provide me an avenue to let my thoughts flow. Did I forget that?
Anyways, I'm back and LJing again. This time not bothering to think of the potential new friends I could make or who might be reading. If you feel like leaving a comment, so be it, if not, won't make much of a difference.
Thank you Sean for still checking up after so long and reminding me of this. Thanks Liz and Gil for making my page a part of your weekly (maybe daily?) routine to catch up on your Singaporean family's activities.
Things that have happened so far in my life:
- Job still sucks. Got pay increase to nowhere near what I wanted. SO still sucks
- Still thinking of going into freelance writing. But too chicken to quit and do it.
- Heading to HK in Sept, then flying from there to Vancouver to meet Jia finally. Nice long vacation jetsetting.
- Moved house finally. New place is closer to church, has aircon and has my own backdoor so I don't even have to pass my family to get into the house and into my room.
See, 2 months, nothing much changed. Hahah....boring me....
