I've been doing some thinking about the hurricane, allow me to demonstrate the diversity with this list:
1)I swear to god, ever since this hurricane I have been glued to the television. This whole disaster has just been such a blessing to the media, a windfall if you will. They've been working around the clock to make the most attractive banners and graphics to frame the scenes of new orlean's refugees.
2)I can only hope our descendents will look back on this disaster with some sort of hilarious literary change, something along the lines of Old New Orleans, or New New Orleans. Some ridiculous addition to popular language that we will forever be burdened with (I'm looking at you 9/11).
3)I stopped the clock yesterday at about 5pm.
It took over three fricking days of tedium for the news to make the hilariously inevitable comparison of this storm to 9/11. So worth the wait.
4)I can't help but point out the glaringly obvious media bias towards showing black people trudging through the muck and swamp and floatsam. The lack of white people being shown leads me to believe that either they were evacuated first (in some sort of sanctioned governmental diaspora) or they were the only ones swept away by the storms fury. Take your pick.
5)Lastly, how fucking awful is the media coverage going to be of the impending blight and pestilence that is going to descend on the region. We're going to be bored to death with all the warning signs of west nile, malaria, and ergot. Ahhhh agricultural threats...
