dream ☁ 001

Belarus was always a deep sleeper. A hammer-jack couldn't even wake her up at times. All snuggled up in her comfy bed, she slept like a log.

It was April 26, 1986.

1:23 AM

A pretty, female colleague of Natalia (Belarus) opened her door and shook her awake.

"Natalia. Natalia. Wake up. Come quick. You must see this," she said in Belorussian. Natalia reluctantly woke up, yawning. Her platinum blond hair tangled from sleep. She followed the woman.

"What's going on?" she asked.

"The sky! It's glowing!"

"What?" Natalia said as she and her colleague stepped outside into the cold Belorussian air. The wind was howling that cold night. Natalia's hair whipped to and fro in the wind.

On the southern horizon, a golden light flickered in the distance.

"It's probably nothing. I'm going back to bed," Natalia said, her colleague following her back inside the building.
