It's... cold. It's definitely not normal to have this weather at this time of the year...
I can actually think a few reasons for this to have happened (and they all are blonde).

*pulling him into the kitchen with him, pausing at the closet to remove a large parka and drape it over Near's shoulders for him to put on*

*abruptly pulls Near to him, kissing him deeply, heatedly, fully intending to have Near stop shivering from the cold and start having him shiver in an entirely different way*

*taken off guard, opens his eyes wide for a moment, before he closes them and starts kissing Mello back, gripping the blonde's coat unconsciously with his cold, pale fingers*

*warming up as well, glad that Mello is there. Softens his grip on Mello's poor clothes and wraps his arms around him; his oversized sleeves covering almost his whole hands*

*goes to finish making the hot chocolate, smirking to himself at the slight flush on Near's cheeks*
