A little spot of paradise....
I always enjoy my time at home in Hastings, although I have to admit, after living in a city for 4 and a half years, I don't think i could ever permanently live in Hastings again - there really is not an awful lot to do there, and it always seems so empty. I do however love the scenery and the beach...I find so much pleasure driving out in the countryside, driving up Te Mata Peak and walking to the red pines, but most of all I love going out to Ocean Beach. That is perhaps what I miss the most about home - in Christchurch there isn't the same access to the beaches (hindered even more so since the earthquakes since most of the roads are destroyed), and the sand is black, which I don't enjoy.
Needless to say that in this past week at home I spent a good couple of days at the beach. I went rather late in the afternoon on one day to walk the puppies and paddle my feet (freezing cold water!), and enjoyed watching the sunset from the sandbanks. And this was what I saw....just beautiful!
