GRRRRRRRR.
So I was watching the news the other day, and there was a story about how the police state-wide are "cracking" down on out-of-state licence plates (I still have Oregon plates), and how you'll be given a $300 fine if you're pulled over and you should be registered (like you live here not just passing thru), AND they set up a hotline SO YOU CAN RAT OUT YOUR NEIGHBORS AND CO-WORKERS. Can you even believe it?????? Thats what they said on the news! "If you don't mind ratting out your neighbors and co-workers!!", I was astonished. The NERVE of some people, I would NEVER call that number. I know that technically I'm not breaking the law because its not technically my vehicle (we put it in my mom's name when we bought it on purpose so I could leave it registered in Oregon because its cheaper, and it can stay on my mom's insurance because she gets it mega-cheap), but some asshole cop could just write me up anyways even with the good story I have thought up in case this happens. The past 2 days driving to work, somebody behind me was on their cell phone I am convinced somebody was calling the number. Plus, my work is oh-so-convienently located right across the street from the SW branch of the Tucson Police!!! Fan-freaking-tastic!!!!!
I decided to attempt to be law-abiding and I went to see how much registration would cost me (not to mention that would force me to get my own insurance which is also costly) and I figured out the formula they use to calculate it, and guess how much it will cost me? OVER THREE HUNDRED DOLLARS!! JUST TO REGISTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! EVERY YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's less than a hundred in Oregon for my car, and its for 2+ years. Well, they do give you a $15 discount per year the car is registered here, but come on. Plus insurance....fuuuuck this, bring on the ticket!! Its cheaper!!!!!!! How can that even be possible, I have a 11 year old car, and there is absolutely NO WAY I could afford to pay that right now given our money situation, I'd have to save for months..hmm..pay rent or pay to get a different picture on my licence plate.... Isn't there financial assistance for this? How can lower income people afford this? This is a raping of my wallet, I want to write somebody a letter.
