Vimeo, I am in love with you

A few days ago, I was following a link from an online magazine which brought me to www.vimeo.com, a relatively new and not yet widely known video website and I was really blown away by the wonderful pieces of film I discovered there. The videos there are so much better than on YouTube, technically; they are mostly presented in HD - image and sound ( Read more... )

I especially loved watching and listening to powerlineflyers. Thanks for telling us about this, Whiteling.

I wonder if the eggman videos are hosted there. I have many bookmarked, all of them on Youtube. They are the ones featuring paintings and images that morph into each other to well-chosen music. They would be so much better to watch on this site, with its high definition!

I think I watched Powerlinerflyers about 8 or 9 times now, and I am still totally fascinated by the comings and goings there. The static camera is such a simple and yet effective stylistic device.

Yes, the wonderful eggman videos. Vimeo would be the perfect place for them! Will be on the watch out for them when I further make my way through Vimeo.

Got him, Mechtild!
Eggman913 (at YouTube) is registered as Philip Scott Johnson at Vimeo (you can search for people or videos on the site) and he has his "Women in Art", "Women in Film" and others uploaded there. Can't watch them right now as I use my hubby's laptop with disabled video function, but will do so tomorrow. I'm looking forward to see his beautiful work in good quality. :-)

You naughty person! No, no, no links to things at Vimeo! Ai! But thanks for the lead to Philip Scott Johnson. I will bookmark his stuff. I love what he does.

I am sorry, Mechtild, but in the name of ART this link had to be given!
;-)
(I love his animations, too. I still love his "Women in Art" to bits, but I also am very fond of "Women in Film" and "Men in Film"... gorgeous stuff and - what I like in particular - obviously they are works of labour. --- Okay, I am quiet now!!)

Yes, they are very carefully crafted. I appreciate that, too. You've named my favourites as well. It's not that the others aren't as good, it's just that I'm a pushover for faces in the first place, as if you couldn't guess.
