Ack, I have been a lousy online friend over the last few weeks, unwittingly though, but yesss, we've been, preciousss, we've been.
Hmmm, my offer of amends are three upcoming art posts, agreed? ;-)
While I was preparing several new art classes and work-shops I'll be giving in autumn and next spring, I rummaged in my portfolios and found a few pictures which I'd like to share with you.
Today's pictures are recent sideline pics I made during the classes in water-colour-painting I provide at a children's art school for 8 years now. In the class for beginners I teach children (as of age 10) the basics of how to paint with water-colours, in the class for advanced learners (teenagers, aged 14 and older) the course participants learn to compose their paintings deliberately and (hopefully) to find their own style eventually. Every now and then I find time to sit down during the classes and to paint a little picture myself. So here's to my little work sampling:
Sunflowers - such a great subject to show how to magically produce a richly coloured painting just by using the three fundamental colours!
Some subjects live on paint - this parrot would only be as half as fabulous in black and white!
The same goes for this fellow.
Sometimes you need just two colours to make a picture interesting. The rest is structure.
I wish I had had the opportunity to paint this landscape (Scottish highlands) in situ. *sigh* But nope, I used a tiny photograph from a Visit Britain folder as reference.
This typical Irish sight was a pleasure to paint also. Milk and beer go well together.
Sometimes the colours simply leave my brush and go play. It's always fascinating to see what happens.
This is another example for colours gone crazy. :-D
So far for today. I hope to post my next art installment soon.
Have a colourful weekend, friends! *hugs*
