To the person before Tony: gay people don't bring up other wrongs because they're too afraid to admit that they're wrong. I find that ignorant of you to say that, and I'm not even gay.
And to Tony: I bet that people in other countries know more about our country than you do, too. I've found that other countries are much, much, much more informed about what goes on in our country and many other countries, even more so than someone who watches the news a lot, or reads up on it, etc.
And I'm not defending Matt on this, because maybe he should care more about his country, but that's not for anyone to decide...only him. Maybe one day something will effect him in a way so that he may have wished he did care more. Who knows. But I don't think anyone will change his mind.
As for the Confirmation thing-I know many, many people who don't believe in God at all who were confirmed. Most of the time, they didn't have a choice, basically, it was to please their parents. Other times, they just went along with it without protest. I personally think that since Matt doesn't believe in the Catholic faith, he shouldn't have made his Confirmation, but what's done is done. Maybe he'll have a change of heart one day. Who knows. But criticizing him for it won't change anything.
And as for gay marriage again. I will never agree with the Bible on it. The Bible also reads "An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth." Take it literally and God just told us to kill someone if that person killed someone.
If one relies too heavily on the Bible, they'll have a hard time making decisions/choices in life. Just because it's written down in our Holy Book doesn't mean anything. People wrote the book years upon years after Jesus walked the earth and there were many different interpretations of the stories/teachings of Jesus.
I know I'm not going to change anyone's mind about this, but I just wanted to inform you a bit about the other side of the argument from a straight, Catholic's perspective.
