Most of you have noticed that I haven't been posting on the Erica_Leaves Community Chat for the past few weeks. Their is a reason for that, my family have recently received some bad news on two fronts.
Front one: My mother has been diagnosed with breast cancer, she is 54. Last week we had the bone and liver/lung scans, all came out clear, the cancer she has is the second most common breast cancer a woman can get, it also has estrogen receptors on the tops of the cancerous cells which is one of the best outcomes we can get because they will be receptive to estrogen reducing tablets that will shrink the cancer enough to hopefully either leave it alone or do a radical mastectomy on her left breast, she will also need chemotherapy for a time to assist the tablets with their work. We see the Oncologist this coming Thursday and go from their in regards to chemo etc. My big Italian family is in shock and my dads side of the family a tad less so, to quote my mothers eldest sister, " Where the fuck did that come from?" their are no cases of it in the Italian side of my family at all, I will have to be careful from now on, when I turn 40 I will have to have regular mammograms. I have been dealing with this by myself for at least three weeks now and its finally gotten too much to keep in.
Front Two: I have been seeing my pain management specialist for the car accident I had, he has been injecting me with cortisone as you all know and that has worked, on the 29th I see him again and he gives me a bigger dose of the cortisone. Last appointment I told him about my shoulder and how it constantly subluxates at will. He truly wanted to physically hit me over the head with my file after I told him and looking at me like I was three tomato's short of a salad he said that he is sending me to an Orthopedic surgeon in my home suburb to get him to check me out and potentially do shoulder stabilization surgery on the shoulder. This is not going to happen with mother on Chemo, I cannot be incapacitated, I have to look after her and with the shoulder unusable for anywhere between 3 and 6 weeks and no physical labor for 3-6 months its just not possible. At work we are coming into out busy period, October-January and even though I will still have my job at the end of it, its just not good to leave my boss in the lurch in her busy time. The reason I will still have my job is the fact that this happened at a previous place of employment so it is meant to be covered under Australian Workers Compensation, which it is, but it has been two years, am fighting with GIO the insurance company to reopen the file. The appointment with him is on the 1st of October, 7 days before my birthday.
If you lot have any questions please don't hesitate to ask...hugs appreciated also...
