Davinci Code
I haven't read the book but i attended a short forum on it tonight at the lsc ballroom and it was quiet informative. I already knew when i walked in about the book and the false teaching it contained and was wanting to learn about how to counter its objections of the faith we believe in. the speaker was by the name of Dr.James Denison who actually got saved at College Park Baptist(my home church)and grew up in the Sharpstown area(how cool is that). he gave us basic truths we could use to counter the book and i'll breifly explain one or two things as to now take up too much time:
one of the things they brought up was how Mary Magdalene married Jesus and had a kid with him shortly before he was crucified. I will use the Bible throughout this entry as I do not feel ready yet to counter with the notes i took as I need to revise them and get a copy of a maunscript from the speaker which he said he would send me. first of all, nowhere in the Bible does it mention anything relating to any kind of relationship between Jesus and Mary. Mary Magdalene is mentioned about 14 times(more or less)in the New Testament), was the first one who saw Jesus after he rose from the dead and commisioned by her to tell the disciples that he was back(so Mary was the first evangalist per say).
