I always knew there was something greater than man...

because nobody is as lucky as I was today without some kind of higher help. No, I'm not religious, but I do believe that there is something, or somethings, higher than us. I just don't think that any of the churches have it right. I also firmly believe that whoever is helping me along is female. If you didn't know I lost my wallet yesterday. What follows is a perfect example of divine help.

I woke up this morning and drove my ass down to the bank and canceled my Debit card, pulled some money out of my account, and found out if anybody had taken anything out of my account since the loss of my wallet. (objective one... complete)

Next step, I went to the DMV to get a new drivers licence made. However, they told me to take a hike until I had proof that I was who I said I was, and proof that I lived where I said I did. So, after some serious grumbling I returned home and had my mom drop me off at the DMV again. Here is where the fun begins. I go back to the same lady and hand her the papers...

LADY: "Hey, somebody came by and returned a wallet. It might be yours. Hold on for a second."
ME: (dumbfounded look)
LADY: (returns with my drivers license and a sticky note) "Here you go, the people still have your wallet, but we kept this. Here is their name and number."
ME: (dumbfounded look, but nod nevertheless.)

I then leave the DMV and run to where my mom is shopping, I tell her the good news and we head back to her shiny jeep. Suddenly, this van comes up and stops next to us.
GUY: Hey, did you lose a wallet yesterday?
ME: Yes I did.
GUY: Well, we have it. Here you go. (hands me my wallet, WITH everything in it. Even the 10 bucks in cash.

My mom and I thanked him for several minutes and then he drove off. He was a really really nice man. His wife was also very nice. He had a handicap sticker on his van, so it's hard to see bad things happen to good people. I am no longer allowed to bad mouth WV. No way that all that happened without me having some divine help.
