Summary: Tony gets a tree

“What is it?” Ziva asked, staring at the bound green pile of needles that Tony was untying from the roof of his car.

“It’s a Christmas tree Ziva,” he said with a grin. “I have ornaments for it in the backseat.”

“Why is it here?” she asked, staring up at it.

“It’s for you,” he said as he started to tug it off the roof.

“What do I need a tree for?” she shook her head. “What do I do with it?”

“Well, this is America. And here we cut down trees in December, bring them inside, decorate them, and on Christmas Eve, Santa comes down the chimney and leaves you gifts if you’re been good,” he shot her a knowing smirk. “Have you been a good girl, or have you been very naughty?”

She ignored his innuendo. “Jews do not celebrate Christmas, Tony.”

He grinned at her. “I’m not Jewish.”

“I am. I do not need a tree,” she said shaking her head.

Tony sighed and leaned against the car. “Please Ziva. I really want to do this with you.”

“Why?” she asked softly.

He reached out and grabbed her hand, pulling her against him. “I never really had good Christmases when I was little with the family stuff and the decorating and all that. Senior always brought people in to decorate before I came home from school, and I was never allowed to touch the decorations.”

Ziva bit her lip, considering his words. “Fine. We can have a tree. But you have to water it and clean up after it.”

His face broke into a grin as he nodded. Leaning down, he brushed his lips against hers. “I promise Ziva, our first Christmas together is going to be perfect.”
