Current Reading Selection....

So I'm going to ramble on now:

I'm reading this crazy book at the moment. It's Anne Rice's The Witching Hour. It's like, 1038 pages, and each chapter is like its own novel. I literally have to take a break after each one to unwind because the story is so nuts and addictive and involved. It's basically about this ancient family of witches, and it's like each chapter is someone else's perspective on them, or from the perspective of someone close to them, or even an estranged family member. It's like this dark, gothic, tangled web of mystery and I really have no idea what is going on still, but since I cannot stop reading it (did I mention it's addictive?) I'm sure I'll figure it all out eventually. It takes place in different places and time periods apparently, though I've only been introduced to the New Orleans, Port au Prince, and San Francisco of the past. So we'll see where else it takes me. It's a pretty crazy adventure and it's probably going to take me a long time to finish, which I'm certainly not used to, but I'm kind of enjoying the change of pace, so we'll see how long Rice can keep me hooked :)

I definitely recommend reading it, but it certainly isn't for the faint of heart or for the casual reader. I'd say give it a shot, read the first three chapters at least (maybe the first 6) which is like almost 200 pages right there, but give it a shot and if it's too much for you then don't read it. But I'm forewarning you, it digs it's claws in and doesn't let go, you won't be able to stop reading it simply because you feel the need to know more more more. You always feel like you're on the edge of knowing something, because you get little snippets of the big picture from various sources, but never the whole thing and it makes you crazy because you want to know what the fuck is going on and you need more info!!!! It's addicting. It demands all of your attention, so I try to avoid reading it at night since it will just wind me up and probably give me crazy dreams.

Anyway, I'm excited about it, even though I'm not sure I'll be able to read another book at the same time like I usually do since this one is pretty demanding. I'll let you know how it all goes :)
