My brain is exploding at the thought.

Assuming that two events heppen that I've been told are pretty certain, that I will be made president of NoDDSoc next year if I want it and that Sheffield University Archery Club will host BUSA Indoors next year, I have to say the following:

Bugger.

I am very very happy that Sheffield had won the Student Roleplaying Nationals and am very very happy ( Read more... )

I'm totally running against you. And I can't see how you expect to win when you've promised to throw a hissy fit if you loose. I mean, how many of the voters are going to want to watch that happen?

You bastard! You don't want to see my hissy fit. Oh, I'm sure you think it'll be adorable anime arm flailing and super-sonic squeeking, but I warn you now that the fallout will be terrible to see. It'll be like Akira. _People will die_. Besides, I'm a one woman party. A good one, too. I-I bring it?

It's not about what I want. It's about what what the voters want. And they'll want to see people die. These are the sort of people who buy Akira.

Easiest option, get the Prez to declare it a position to which only students can be elected. There's precedent. Or, given that I don't turn up on Wednesday, just don't tell me the AGM is happening until after your re-election. Love, war, politics.

Current prez or next? It's in the bag either way...

I don't know. Technically we impeached the current elect at a party at Starr's last September, but we only told Andy Pollard about it because the morning after it didn't seem like such a good idea. And I wouldn't say the presidential race was cut and dried, unless I'm way out of the loop and my spies (Adam) have been giving me misguiding info.

But hey, you'd be a better social sec than me. You're more social. It's really just the hissy fit that stands in the way of the elect retaining power. And the fact that Sean promised me a silly games night and it hasn't happened.

EDIT* On second thought the prez race is pretty much foregone isn't it?

Impeached him? On what grounds?

He was being a jerk. Andy that is. Boasting about how he wouldn't be giving us free dice and that he'd spend the budget on roleplay source books but not tell anyone what the society owned so he could keep them all to himself. Phil N was largely to blame, as he seemed to have read the constitution and so iformed us we had the right to make the call. We were very drunk, and it was half way through a game of "Are you a Werewolf?" so political tension was very high. Andy was the Innocent Girl, if I recall correctly.

The race is forgone because I will run over the toes of all those who oppose me with my wheelchair.

You'll get your games night, I'm fairly sure I said "when I get back from holiday". There aren't many rooms in the union which are large enough with sufficient tables and chairs for the number of people NODDSoc tends to bring to things, a problem we run into every year when trying to book alternate venues, and asking for RSVPs to work out how many there'll be will I suspect be useless because people just turn up. There's a couple of alternatives, which are moot until term starts again and room booking opens up.

Yep, you did. My post came out way more like a whining six old than I'd have liked. Sorry. Thanks.

Bye-Law 11, 2.2.2 states that any society must ensure that:
"All of the voting membership, and 50% of the whole membership, shall be Full Members of the Union except in the case of societies run jointly with another students' union which shall be subject to such arrangements as are agreed by Activities Committee."

So I am fairly sure it would be quite easy to call into question any undesired election result.

How? I mean, this clause informs Nodd on how it is to make up it's society. It's something that the committee can violate by taking subscription fees from the wrong people, but it doesn't allow the committee any say on majority votes by members.

What are you going to do? If the vote comes through as a result you don't want are you planning on disbanding the society because it doesn't meet the criteria? That would be cutting off your nose to spite your face. And furthermore you'd need the backing of the newly elected committee, who probably wouldn't be up for self destructing their newly appointed charge.

Mostly your problem is that according to the Union Constitution, which supersedes any contrary law in the NoddSoc Constitution, you, Adam, Phil, Pete, Tom, Mary, (I could go on this list must be extensive), aren't allowed to vote or ordinarily have speaking rights at the AGM. It is, after all, a student society, and if you just go bailing them out every time they do something a bit rubbish it'll never get better. This is what letters of complaint are for.
