So, long after it having been released and several weeks after it's DVD release, I finally got to see the spectacle of Avatar tonight. It was pretty good. I can see where some people complained that it was a preachy sort of movie, but honestly, I don't think it's that bad. It really is a retelling of a moral tale that's been told before; progress without conscience is a bad thing, and that the natural world has a way of balancing itself. Regardless of ones opinions on that subject, I still think it was a great movie, even if the tale has been told before in one form or another. But honestly, aren't most stories told these days just the same stories told yesterday with a different set of details? It one is just to sit back and enjoy the ride without critiquing, I think it is a pretty enjoyable ride.
