I'm attempting to write a letter to congress about deciding on whether or not gay marriage should be legal in DC.
I have so many reasons why I feel the way I do but because I have so many feelings on the subject it makes it difficult for me to break it down and make a lists of why that makes sense outside of my head.
Its interesting to me how many people in politics are taking this personally that have little to do with congress. I know I've never dealt with congress directly and everyone has the right to respond in the way that they wish but some of the things I am seeing still surprise me.
A politician from my state is organizing a group of other politicians to speak to congressmen against gay marriage, veiling his opposition to it with the claim to only support traditional marriage. It reeks of Mormon undertones, Utah politicians can pretend there is no separation between church and state here but that will never fly in DC which is far away from Mormon central.
In the mean time I am reading as much as I can on pro gay rights and trying to get my head to clear enough to write a letter supporting gay marriage as best as I can.
