One year ago today my son called me and said he had to take his wife into the hospital because she wasn't feeling well. She was 7.5 months pregnant and her water broke while she was shoe shopping. He asked me to come up to the hospital to get his housekey so I could go pick up a few clothes for them. We were not expecting a baby to come this day at all.
I got to the hospital and knocked on daughter-in-law's room door and was met at the door by a nurse who informed me Kat was in labor. How quickly things progressed. In a matter of minutes the girl went from shoe shopping to delivering a very healthy preemie and I was out in that hospital hallway hearing everything and heard my little Rosebud coming into the world. Wow... what a feeling!
Today is her one year birthday and she's the light of my life. I'm blessed to be back in the Midwest and to be in this babygirl's life.
