Long time... no update..
So here I sit in MI..... I've been up here for 7 days. I accomplished... nothing. Well.. a little. It's been cold and windy up here.. So I didn't even think about taking my boat (nods).. out until Monday. So on monday, I made a sandwich, dropped the boat into the water.. and no start. I didn't bother to do anything about it for the rest of the day (lazy bastard). On Tuesday, I got a battery charger from the Boat Storage guy who was going to be taking the boat out of the water.. Charged it.. Started up the motor.. turned off the motor.. put the charger back in the cottage.. grabbed a coke.. got into the boat.. started up again no problems.. and went for a cruise on the lake.. I decided to stop in the middle and drink my coke after I had driven for 20 minutes or so.. stopped the boat.. drank the coke... went to start up the motor... no start.. So I sat in the middle of the lake contemplating my next move.. Luckily for me the wind was blowing to the west.. which was the closest shore to where I was.. and actually pushed the boat that direction while I thought about what to do. So rather than trying to paddle against the wind.. I paddled the boat to the west shore, to one of the very few docks left in the water.. Walked home, and got the charger.. walked back to the dock.. fired up the boat.. and drove back to our dock. the battery was so dead.. that I couldn't tilt the motor up, so I had to turn off the engine before getting to our dock.. upon which i could tilt.. but then the motor wouldn't start.. so I paddled the 20 feet to the dock.. again. by that time the boat storage guy had gotten the message from my mom (who I called to inform that I was stranded in the middle of the lake) New battery.. and the boat was good to go.. I took the boat out later, and drove again.. It was really calm and smooth, as there were only 2 other boats on the lake, and they were both fishing.. anyone else would have thought it was crazy to do such a thing. This morning we officially took the boat out of the water..
I did open up my MCSE books a couple of times.. but didn't study too much.. but I did figure out which exam to go for first, so next week I will focus on that particular exam. It was nice to just bum for a week, after working my ass off all summer.
Speaking of work... 2 Fridays ago.. Donnie came in to work with a note that said he could come back.. and so I was informed that the following monday I would no longer be needed in KY, so I flat out told my boss.. if you're going to change my schedule with 3 days notice.. then I'm changing my schedule with 3 days notice, and taking off the entire week. I would stay up here longer in MI, but i told them I would work Thur, Fri, and Saturday of this week.
The dishwasher is done, so I can put that stuff away, grab all the trash.. pack up my clothes and laptop.. and back to OH I go.. It ended up being a six hour drive up here.
