Writing her own vows was just something Aeryn couldn't do, at least not in front of an audience. All the things she could say, she sort of wanted to keep between them. That didn't mean they couldn't find something that worked for them.
Hoping she remembered all of it, she began reciting the vows, even if she did hate that she had to go first. "John, I love you. You are my best friend. Today I give myself to you in marriage. I promise to encourage and inspire you, to laugh with you, and to comfort you in times of sorrow and struggle. I promise to love you in good times and in bad, when life seems easy and when it seems hard, when our love is simple, and when it is an effort. I promise to cherish you, and to always hold you in highest regard. These things I give to you today, and all the days of our life."
There. She didn't do so bad. And she looked a little relieved to have gotten it out.

And then the Justice of the Peace turned towards John.
John took a deep breath, reciting the words quickly in his head before smiling, suddenly very relaxed. "Aeryn, I love you.
Before the Justice of the Peace could start talking again, John added one more thing.

Dawn stood when Aeryn entered, hoping that if she ever got married, she looked half as happy. And John...the look on John's face when he saw Aeryn made her grin. And maybe get a little sniffly.

Karal was absolutely enraptured as he watched the ceremony. It was so simple compared to the ones with which he was familiar, but no less meaningful for all that.
At some point, Altra might have appeared under his seat, out of sight as he watched the ceremony through Karal's eyes. There may have been purring.

He almost looked respectable.
Almost.

Which is kind of silly because he really should know the people here.

"Also, you just kick ass."

During the ceremony, she refrained from that, and just took a quick photo after the justice of the peace pronounced them married.
She also refrained from yelling anything, but she did applaud. Loudly.
