As stated in Grimoire Nier, the Sealed Verses are "offensive magic in expectation of Legion battles. Grimoire Weiss is necessary for Grimoire Noir’s activation, and the Sealed Verses in turn are vital for Grimoire Weiss’s activation. In other words, it’s a double lock intended to prevent any accidental activation of the system, so that they’ll only be activated by the manager when the time has truly come."
In game, they're basically powerful dark magic spells.
Sealed Verses:
► Dark Blast- fire tiny bursts of dark energy. (found in the Lost Shrine) As seen here.
► Dark Lance- launch a devastating magical spear. (found in the Lost Shrine, Hansel & Gretel fight)
► Dark Hand- (found in the Aerie, Hook fight) As seen here.
► Dark Phantasm- (found in the Aerie, Hook fight again) As seen here.
► Dark Whirlwind- attack with magical rotating blades. (found in the Haunted Manor, Grimoire Rubrum fight) As seen here.
► Dark Gluttony- (found in the Junk Heap, Gepetto fight)
► Dark Wall- (found in the Barren Temple, Shahriyar fight) As seen here.
► Dark Execution- (found in the Forest of Myth) As seen here.
Random notes:
-can apparently smell, given that he could tell Gideon and Jakob's mother's perfume smelled of roses.
-Dark Lance and Dark Hand are probably the most used spells.
-magic regenerates over time, cannot suck up blood from Shades in Paradisa...since there are none. Guess he'll just have to make do.
-makes for a good encyclopedia, dictionary, and reference manual.
