Man, what the heck is with everyone complaining about the storyline? D: I would actually like to find out what the deal is with the box. They have been very good about resolving aspects of the story while keeping the ONE giant question about the music box going. (unlike Lost which left -everything- unresolved) So yeah, I am one of the people who is not tired of it!

Loved the spoilers, btw, thank you for posting them, tzikeh! I can't wait to see Tim do the scene with El's picture. :)

The writers have kind of haphardly kept with the music box storyline so it's more that than anything else.

I mean when was the last time Patchwork Man was even mentioned? What about the music box investigation on Peter and Diana's side?

Honestly if the writers brought up the music box in depth every single episode I'd definitely feel like they were overdoing it. I like that they're giving Neal and Peter things to do outside of the music box storyline. As for the thing with Diana and Peter and the box, I'm just assuming, much like in season one, the do a lot of investigation off camera. That's how the writers surprised us with Peter meeting Kate.

We're not even halfway into the second season and it's not like the writers have become notorious for setting things up and not delivering. So I guess I'm baffled about why fans first reaction is to nitpick over say... Being excited there is a new episode on tomorrow and the writers like feeding fans spoilers. Not that people can't discuss the show, both good and bad, but seeing a majority of the comments on a spoiler post be gripes about storylines and writing is kinda depressing.

One. I meant haphazardly in the original post.lol

Two. I don't need to see them dedicating ten minutes to X,Y, and Z. That's not what I want. Peter and Diana mentioning something and stop as Neal walks in would be fine. Just to let me know they are working the situation.

The difference with last season was that the investigation into Kate was told from Neal's perspective. The bottle, photo, phone call were important to Neal whether you liked the storyline or not. The music box has no inherent interest to anyone we spend most of the episodes with.

Thre. We still haven't found out how Peter was contacting Kate which could be huge considering she was meeting with Fowler. I'm willing to wait a little longer for the explanation for why Kate was doing this and the Ring Man photo, but they really need to close those stories if they plan on introducing Sir and whatever is in the box.

one: I don't understand! D:

Two: They've been pretty consistently bouncing between Neal's hunt for information and Peter's hunt for who wants the box in almost every episode.

I totally disagree that the box is not of direct interest to Neal and Peter. Whomever wanted the box had to orchestrate everything that happened to Neal, Kate and Peter. Understanding why they want it could lead them to that person.

Three: That would be a great thing to find out, but like all these things we're only partly into Season 2, I'm not in any rush to find out and I am enjoying the ride.

Again, I don't mind discussion of the plot it's just disheartening when the majority of the discussion is negative.

Just to clarify. I actually like the Kate plot line in the first season. I'll judge the music box by the mid-finale but I feel like it could have been tighter ( ... )

Wh- ....Peter is clearly concerned about Kate's death because of Neal. He promised Neal he'd find out about who killed her. Peter even promised Neal he would try to find out, if that's not a direct character admitted interest then I have no idea what you'd need to prove it so. Just because he didn't trust Kate doesn't mean he can't care for Neal's sake or for the sake of someone being murdered. Peter is a just and upstanding agent of the government, of course he would care about a murder, any murder for that matter. And if it concerns Neal's safety he's made it especially clear that he cares ( ... )

Thank you - I so agree! I love the story line and think it provides a great set up of the tension between Neal and Peter.

I do not think the story line is being dragged out at all. We only found out about the music box at the midseason finale of S1 last year. Kate was only murdered at the season finale of S1. We're just coming up to the midseason finale of S2. I think the murder of the love of the life of one of the main characters is a big enough storyline to pursue for more than a half season. WC doesn't even come close to dragging things out the way other shows due.

Aw, so good to hear I am not alone! I agree with you 100% here, I love how easy going and fun the show is while still having it's amazing dramatic moments and fantastic character bonds. :)

You're definetly not along - most of the comments I have read on other sites like the direction the story is going in. I'm still trying to figure out how anyone can watch this show and not see that the music box is in direct interest to Peter and more importantly, Neal.

My problem with the story line isn't the story itself so much as it's the execution of it. I feel that it lacks urgency and that the writers are just dragging it out. I want to like the story but I can't find myself bothered to care.

I have to disagree. We find out about the music box in 1.08 . Tomorrow will be 2.08 -- that's fourteen episodes of basically nothing on the music box ( ... )
