Okay so I was going to do some neat thing where you could rollover and see the original of the art I have just created but lj is stupid and won't let us do cool html. So basically I found this really awesome picture of a pier and it reminded me of home. I started working with it...playing around with teh lighting, then I decided I wanted to deteriorate the wood because I wanted to give it that old look. After finally being satisfied with that I moved on to adjust teh colors to make them feel more mysterious and seaworthy. I focused a lot on greens and blues. I kept the sky light to make a play on the contrasting lights. However, it makes sense. I'm sure you all have seen a moment in which the sun is directly behind something so it appears dark but you can see the sky is bright. The mountains were more of a pain than I thought they would be. I had to first get rid of a lot of the pier to make them fight right. I spent a lot of time airbrushing around there to keep things normal ish. I also had to remove some kind of object or thing...in the very beginning that looked like aperson. I didn't want people in this image. After I finally agreed on the style of the mountains I moved on to the lamp post. Since the wood was deteriorated I wanted the lamp post to have the same effect so I decided to rust it. Usuing a heck of a lot of time and tools I made the rust for the lamp post. The light made the pole itself dark enough that I didn't have to worry about that.

I decided to keep that lighting as it is. The rope was a last minute addition. I felt it needed something and the only thing I could think of was rope. So I went on the search for rope and finally found one that I could work with. After a bit of manipulating to get it to look right I placed it in. I then went on to the water which proved to be another task in it's own. I wanted to contrast it so that it matched the behaviour of the lighting. So I started messing around with difference images of water and trying to match them together etc... I finally settled upon the various images I wanted to compile and then digitally painted them more to get that color effect. Finall, I added the gun and bullets which you may not notice right away. I had to play around with their textures and etc.. as well FOREVER. I thought I'd never get them right but finally settled upon the rusted metal, decay look. ANYWAY, phew... enjoy! Oh and I have a list of where I got the photos but I'm in a rush right now...I'll post it later, but um the original is under the cut anyway.

annnnnnd if you want to see the original
