Media Player Asistance Needed.

Got a little issue with Media Player 11 that I could use some help with.
I was working away on the computer and decided to download Real Player to my system. Kind of a test to see if I could do it and it is always good to have a back-up program. What a mistake that was.
Now I have the following problem with my trusty Media Player 11.
Before, when downloading a media clip *eg a movie traler* I would click on the link, Media Player would start up and then it would load the file in chunks *bit by bit if a MPG and in one chunk if a WMV* Now when I do the same thing, having deleted Real player off my system cause it was too complex for me to work out, I click on the file and a box comes up telling me how much of the file has been downloaded. I still get the file to be sure but it is anoying to have to change things because if a file wasn't what I wanted I could click out of it straight away, now I have to wait for it to be 100% done and playing.
Any advice would be very welcome.
