Libertarianism

In the complete absence of governmental control over industry, industry becomes the new government.  Sure, the role of the state is lessened, but it gives way to the role of the company.  If given carte blanche, it would take all of five minutes for corporations to enact "pre-employment policies" that prohibit all manner of personal and private practices currently debated within state government (state, in this case, referring to national government).  We've proven time and time again that values and identity are nothing in the face of starvation and poverty.

Even if our current American government only amounts to a glorified illusion of control held by the common voter, it is still highly prefereable to a company-run environment in which the average person can't even pretend to have a say in the running of things.  Sure big money rules the elections, but at least this big money must affect some votes, some choice, some free will.
