Croatia!
This is really kind of a teaser, but I recently got home from my family trip to Croatia.
The trip was wonderful, if you haven't been to Croatia or Slovenia, you should definitely go.
On the other hand, you should definitely not go in the middle of a pandemic. Airlines do not have their shit together yet.
Of the six flights for the trip (three there, three back) there were more than seven cancellations, delays, reschedulings, and mechanical failures. We were supposed to leave Wednesday the 14th. It got pushed to the 16th. It then got pushed to the 18th, with the airline putting us up for two days in Sacramento. We got out on the 18th and made it to Croatia okay. The return was pushed to 30th from the 28th when the leave date first got pushed two days. We left on the 30th properly, but at Heathrow there was a connection snafu and they again had to put us up for a day. This really screwed over my sister a lot but she worked out a substitute. And then a final delay for a mechanical failure and plane swap, and we got home.
Croatia was wonderful! Go!
(We all got negative COVID-19 rapid PCR test results in Croatia on the 30th in order to be able to return to the US, so, yay for that?)
