Hmm...Old Times
So I started playing FFVIII again, I know, it's a game that's like 10 years old now, but it's still an oldie but a goodie. It's not my favourite Final Fantasy anymore, that crown would belong to FFX-2. I do sometimes wonder though if I am the only one that likes X-2. It was fun, it was smart, it was quite stylish and it had hot guys, granted they aren't playable, but still hot. Anyway, back to FFVIII.
I'd thought for a while that I wanted to play it again, so I searched high and low for it until I found it the other night, unfortunately Disc 1 had gone missing, I was very distressed. Sure disc 1 isn't a great disc, in fact I find disc 1 to be quite boring, but it's been literally years since I've played FFVIII so I figured I'd play from the beginning, obviously though that wasn't happening. Luckily I was able to find a saved game from disc 2 on one of my old memory cards. It's not quite the beginning, but that's okay, disc 2 is when it starts getting interesting.
Well as what normally happens when I play FFVIII, I haven't changed much in 3 or 4 years, I got the desire to read FFVIII Fanfiction. So I went searching, searching, searching only to find that the fandom was dead. 4 years ago the fandom was still moving along at a steady pace, but now it's all dead. That makes me sad, I was happy to see though that most of my favourite authors from way back when still had my favourite fanfictions up, but if there was anything new in the fandom it was all kind of bland (new authors I mean with this comment). Next time nostalgia hits I might just put it on the backburner, though I am still playing FFVIII again. I am also thinking of finally finishing the few FFVIII fanfictions of my own I have up around the place, they probably won't get read, which actually suits me to a T, these days I'm actually very shy about my writing, not that I've actually written anything, but I figured I might finish them, at least for my own sense of closure. I just have this feeling that I've left stuff unfinished, which I have, ah well, we'll see how it goes.
